Bypass Modules
Hardware Bypass Options for FortiGate® Multi-Threat Security Systems
IT administrators are faced with the challenge
of securing a network while also ensuring that
the network is always available. For critical
network segments, this could mean that network
availability is valued over ensuring that all
traffic is inspected for malicious activity.
High availability solutions, where a system
fails over to either an active or standby unit,
can reduce the risk of a network outage while
still providing security services. To further
reduce the risk of a network outage due to a
power failure or a security device malfunction,
bypassing the device altogether with a
fail-to-wire solution can ensure network
continuity at times when security cannot be
provided.

ASM-CX4
 |
The
ASM-CX4 is a single-width AMC module which
provides four (4) 10/100/1000 copper (RJ-45)
Ethernet interfaces for two protected segments
of network traffic. |
|
ASM-FX2
 |
The
ASM-FX2 is a single-width AMC module which
provides two (2) gigabit fiber (LC, 850nm)
Ethernet interfaces for a single protected
segment of network traffic. |
Security Processing Modules
Security Processing Modules for FortiGate® Multi-Threat Security Systems
Fortinet ADM-XE2 and ASM-CE4 security processing
modules provide multi-gigabit throughput
increases for intrusion prevention, firewall,
and IP multicast applications. Both models are
based on the carrier-class Advanced Mezzanine
Card™ (AMC) specification used in
enterprise-class FortiGate multi-threat security
platforms. Fortinet security processing modules
work to increase overall system performance by
offloading select security applications and
network processing functions from the FortiGate
host system while maintaining all the benefits
of a unified security platform.

ADM-XE2
 |
The
ADM-XE2 is a dual-width AMC module for
10-Gigabit Ethernet networks. |
|
ASM-CE4
 |
The
ASM-CE4 is a single-width AMC module for
10/100/1000 Ethernet networks. |
Storage Modules
Storage Options for FortiGate® Multi-Threat Security Systems
Fortinet storage modules extend the capabilities
of FortiGate multi-threat security systems by
enabling local storage for system and security
event logging. The modules also enable the WAN
optimization feature found in FortiOS 4.0
software, which works to accelerate applications
commonly affected by slower network connections.

|
ASM-SAS
 |
The ASM-SAS
module is a single-width AdvancedMC™ (AMC)
form-factor option that enables external Serial
Attached SCSI (SAS) or Serial ATA (SATA) storage
systems to work seamlessly with supported
FortiGate platforms. The ASM-SAS module features
two (2) external IB-SAS connectors that provide
four (4) ports per connector. |
|
ASM-S08
 |
The
ASM-S08 module is a single-width AMC
form-factor option that adds all-in-one internal
storage to supported FortiGate platforms. The
ASM-S08 features a 80GB commercial-grade hard
disk drive. |
WAN Modules
T1/E1 WAN Connectivity for FortiGate® Multi-Threat Security Systems
The Fortinet ASM-ET4 WAN Module adds up to four
(4) full rate T1/E1 wide area network
connections to FortiGate-310B and FortiGate-620B
multi-threat security appliances. The single
width Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) module
includes four (4) RJ-48C interfaces, fully
integrated internal CSU/DSU hardware, complete
integration with FortiGate security inspection
hardware, and local/remote configuration and
monitoring via FortiOS™ Web-based and
command-line interfaces. The features of the
ASM-ET4 allow for the deployment and monitoring
of multiple T1 or E1 circuits from anywhere and
at any time - all while maintaining the reduced
physical space and power requirement benefits of
a single appliance deployment.
