Magazine's Editors and 100 Senior IT Professionals across Asia Pacific Name Fortinet the Best Vendor for Network Virtualization Security Solutions.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- June 6, 2013 -- Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) ? a world leader in high-performance network security ? today announced that it has won the 2013 Network World Asia (NWA) Information Management Award in the category of Virtualization Security. Fortinet's solutions were voted as the industry's best by NWA editors and 100 Asia Pacific CIOs and IT heads who read NWA or its sister publications Networks Asia, Security Asia and Storage Asia. The award ceremony was held in Singapore last night.

Said Victor Ng, Southeast Asia Bureau Chief for Network World Asia: "The judges found Fortinet's virtualization security offerings to be broad, technologically advanced and well-designed to address the business issues faced by enterprises. Clearly, Fortinet has invested many resources to develop the products to their present level, and we are pleased to be able to acknowledge them as the industry's best today."

Conducted by the Questex Media group that owns the four pan-Asia publications, the NWA Information Management Awards saw its editors first short-listing the top two or three products in 25 categories, before putting them to IT leaders for a poll. Judging criteria used by both editors and IT leaders include reputation of vendor in the marketplace; features of the solutions; market acceptance of the technology and brand; users’ feedback on the solution/deployment; and the solutions’ durability, scalability and quality of service.

"A good virtualization security solution must secure the enterprise end-to-end while keeping real estate and energy requirements to a minimum,” said George Chang, Fortinet’s vice president for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. “It's heartening to know that so many IT end-users consider Fortinet the leader in this regard. We will continue to push the envelope and develop even higher performing virtualization solutions in future."

Fortinet has two categories of virtualization security solutions ? virtual appliances and virtualized applications.

Virtual appliance versions of the main Fortinet products are available to let customers who have embraced virtual environments to continue to rely on the vendor’s proven security solutions to protect their network. With these appliances, enterprises could scale quickly to meet demand and protect intra-virtual machine communications by implementing critical security controls within their virtual infrastructure, running on both VMware and Xen.

Using Fortinet’s virtual or physical appliances, organizations can also virtually segment their network into multi-tenant environments. Fortinet has offered virtual domains and administrative domains for several years in many of its products, supporting customers who wish to create virtual environments to support multi-tenant environments (such as service providers and telecommunications carriers) or segmented environments to better control data access and egress within their environment.
