SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- May 1, 2013 -- Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a world leader in high-performance network security – today announced the company is extending its relationship with FishNet Security through a new “Preferred” Managed Security Services (MSS) offering. The offering, which is available today, utilizes Fortinet’s FortiAnalyzer Virtual Appliance and FortiManager Virtual Appliance to manage and provide analysis and intelligence for Fortinet FortiGate appliances within FishNet Security’s expanded Customer-Premises Equipment (CPE) reseller program. Today’s news is a significant milestone in Fortinet’s continued drive to provide MSSPs with feature-rich, scalable and high-performance security solutions. FishNet Security is the number one provider of information security solutions that combine technology, services, support and training.

For its new managed security services offering, FishNet Security intends to use Fortinet’s FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer platforms to provide its managed security services customers with central management and reporting through a Web portal. “Fortinet’s virtual appliance technology, combined with the company’s FortiGate platform, allows us to easily and effectively manage our customers’ complete security toolset or any combination of those tools within the set,” said Aaron Shilts, executive vice president of services for FishNet Security. “Furthermore, the company’s FortiGate multifunction security and FortiWiFi and FortiAP wireless access point platforms enable us to ensure our customers leverage both secure branch and guest WiFi access helping them maintain PCI DSS compliance.”

“The trend toward delivering security as a managed service is increasing and Fortinet has done very well in this space due to the performance, virtualization and carrier-grade networking and management functionality we uniquely offer,” said Peter Brant, Fortinet’s vice president of Americas sales. “FishNet Security is an important enterprise security partner to us, and we’re pleased to extend our relationship with them and count them among the leading MSSPs around the globe who are using Fortinet solutions as the platform to deliver an array of cloud- and customer premise-based managed security services.”

The Fortinet MSSP Advantage

Fortinet's architectural flexibility and ASIC-accelerated platforms allow for a wide range of MSSP deployment scenarios, ranging from SMB on premise equipment to multi-gigabit full content scanning, core network or datacenter environments. Fortinet’s MSSP enabling technologies include:

The FortiGate Toolset: Provides networked data protection at network speeds with the award-winning FortiGate systems. Based on a revolutionary architecture, FortiGate appliances are ASIC-accelerated networked data protection platforms that combine all of the capabilities necessary for complete, real-time antivirus/antispam, firewall, IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, intrusion prevention, URL and Web content filtering and application control protection.

Advanced Threat Protection: New cloud-based and IP reputation security services help protect against today’s advanced persistent threats (APTs) by using behavioral attributes and real time IP monitoring to detect malware.

Virtual Domains and Devices: In 2004, Fortinet engineers introduced the concept of a “Virtual Domain” or VDOM, enabling multiple, logically separate, networked entities to co-exist on one piece of hardware. In 2010, Fortinet announced four new virtual appliances, FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiMail. These appliances work in conjunction with physical appliances and Fortinet’s related services to provide customers with a choice of physical and virtual form factors – enabling MSSPs to extend their SaaS (Security as a Service) offerings and simplifying the task of securing virtual assets for SMB and enterprise clients. In addition, Fortinet has simplified management, configuration, analysis and upgrade processes by maintaining a common user interface across its entire product line.
